WildHearts GEL summit at the United Nations

Global Entrpreneurial Leaders summit in Geneva

Inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs to use business as a force for good.

Last year, I was thrilled to go to the WildHearts GEL Summit in Geneva. I had started working for the Glasgow based social enterprise, WildHearts Group earlier in the year and have taken a great interest in their inspirational aim, to create global social change by inspiring our next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs to use business as a force for good.

They’ve certainly been succeeding in their mission and it has been very humbling to participate in many of their events through the year. I’ve witnessed first-hand the incredible empowerment and energy felt by the young participants as they realise how they can positively change the world we live in.

Wildhearts Group’s GEL summit at the United Nations

innovative ideas through collaboration

Most of my work for WildHearts has been in Glasgow, Edinburgh and London. But, last November, I headed off to the United Nations in Geneva for their Global Entrepreneurial Leaders (GEL) Summit. The summit brought together some of the world’s leading Corporate, Social and Founding Entrepreneurs. Together they celebrated the WildHearts vision of using business as a force for social and economic change.

My role at the gathering was to document the event. I was able to capture all of the action, reactions and interactions as the young people from diverse backgrounds collaborated to create innovative ideas designed to address the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These SDG’s are well worth a read as they identify the major issues threatening humanity in the 21st century.

It was an incredibly positive atmosphere to work in. The engagement and empowerment I witnessed in the students was a testament to the inspirational energy of Dr. Mick Jackson, the entrepreneur behind WildHearts.

So a big thank you goes out to all those involved in organizing the WildHearts GEL Summit. I really appreciate the opportunity to be a part of the gathering and it felt great to come away buzzing with ideas from all the positive energy in the room. If we, as a society, can keep spurring innovation and giving bright young minds a platform to reach out and make a difference in the world, then we’re all sure to benefit.
