Corporate Headshot Photographer

Glasgow, Edinburgh, Central Scotland

A good professional headshot looks simple but is deceptively hard to get right.
As a Corporate Headshot Photographer these are the “bread and butter” of all corporate photography and serve a multitude of purposes. If done right, they can be used again and again…

How does it work?

There’s no need to waste time travelling to a studio. I will come to your offices in Glasgow or Edinburgh and set up my mobile equipment to create the perfect lighting.

You have a choice of backgrounds and I can photograph many staff members in one session.
During the shoot, you’ll see the pictures on a computer screen as we progress. This allows us to make adjustments to hair or clothes and gives you the confidence to follow my direction knowing that it’s making a difference.

I am very experienced at this type of photography. I understand that my subjects are busy people and that I need to quickly put them at ease. I’ll give you simple to follow directions to get great portraits with the minimum of fuss.”

“Ashley can make the mundane sparkle”

I really enjoyed my time working with Ashley – I engaged him to take photos for a client of mine – a dental practice. The brief was to make professional shots of the practice the staff. He created some incredibly stunning shots and we were all very impressed with his mobile, pop-up studio for the staff headshots. His ideas for the practice shots were creative and very interesting and he managed to fulfil my brief entirely – he just seemed to understand exactly what I wanted for my client and delivered some really great photography. The shoot was professional, his guidance was brilliant and the turn around time for the shots was very impressive. Overall, he exceeded the expectations of both myself and my client and I look forward to working with him again soon!

What’s the best background?

  • Plain
  • Light or Dark
  • A specific colour
  • Match existing brand photography
  • Corporate or office setting
  • Inside or Outside

For corporate headshot photography the portable background appears to be the most humble piece of kit that I will bring to the shoot. However, it has a huge impact on the finished pictures. Making your decision requires some careful thought.

My favourite and the most versatile option is the lowkey white. This will appear a shade of grey. You may think that sounds boring but it’s neutral and the one that will make you stand out the most with no distractions. It’s also possible to create a “cut-out” in photoshop which means it can be dropped onto an alternative background image.”

7 questions – corporate headshot photography

  1. How much space do you need?
4×3 meters of clear floor space. Please arrange for any large furniture to be moved beforehand.
  2. How much time should I allow?
When scheduling a staff headshot session, allow 10 minutes per person and share the running order with me. I need 30 minutes setup time prior to the first sitter.
  3. What background should I choose?
There are lots of options which I touch on above. Please get in touch with plenty of notice before the shoot date to discuss.
  4. Can you match our existing brand style?
Yes. If you have existing photography from other offices that needs to be matched for consistency, just send me examples and I’ll do the rest.
  5. How many pictures do I get and how do I select them?
For a staff headshot session I will typically supply 5 pictures of each person with a range of expressions. When it comes to making the selections it’s definitely a collaborative process. I shoot tethered, which means you can see the photos on a computer screen during the shoot. This helps for making any adjustments as we work towards the perfect shot. Before you leave the session, we’ll go through the photos together so I can mark your favourites. This has the added bonus of cutting down on admin for the marketing department. They won’t need to seek approval after the photo shoot from each person individually.
  6. Do you provide a gallery for sharing?
I provide a private web gallery of all the pictures from the day. You can then share it with anyone who needs access to the images. It cuts out the need to email pictures to each other internally for approval and selection. There is the option to download the pictures from the gallery in either web size resolution or high resolution.
  7. Do you offer retouching?
I post-process all photographs in the final gallery for colour, contrast, crop and then export in high resolution print-ready jpeg format. I will typically make subtle adjustments to remove any blemishes or stray hairs. I have the capability to deploy the full photoshop arsenal if you really want it but a lighter hand with the airbrush is always the best policy. If you have any specific photoshop requirements please let me know.
