Best of 2024
Posting a “Best of 2024” as late as March the following year would surely be too late?? By the third month of the year, the previous year is starting to seem like a very distant memory. Everyone has moved on, projects for 2025 are now well underway.
But luckily it’s still February for one more day so I’m going to kid myself it’s all fine!!

It was my busiest year ever, lots of new clients as well as lots of work for all you old faithfuls, to whom I am eternally grateful.
Every year the work seems to get more interesting and varied, and I have really enjoyed a growing number of project based commissions. They require more planning and logistics with multiple days shooting in various locations. But I love getting my teeth into a chunky piece of work and being part of a team.
Portraits continue to be the backbone of the majority of my work. However, flying the drone now features in a growing number jobs. I have been using the quieter winter months to hone my piloting skills and keep up with the bewildering pace at which the tech evolves.
And on the back of drone work, video is starting to become an important part of my offering too. Engagement with content online is relying more heavily on videos but I am glad to see that the demand for the still image is as strong as ever.
“Content” is the word on everyone’s lips, whether it’s photos or videos, the media landscape changes at pace. However, the core skills remain constant:
- creativity
- hard work
- being adaptable
- being personable
- embracing change and learning new skills
- loving the interaction with the people that appear in my viewfinder
- the list goes on
My goal for 2025 is as solid as it has ever been…. to keep loving the job.
I’m going to keep everything on the list above front and centre for every piece of work I do.
